How do I get Slowburn?
Slowburn is an app for iPhone and Android. It is not a website you log into; this site is the front door, the app is the product.
It is coming to the App Store and Google Play, iPhone first. Until the listings are live, the download buttons on this site point here.
iPhone or Android?
Both. The same journal, the same circle, the same widget on each. Your journal lives on the phone you use it on; a circle can be protected with Apple or Google so it follows you to a new phone.
What is free, and what is Premium?
Free is a complete reading journal: unlimited books, the shelf, the scanner, the whole journal, progress, the Burn, basic Stats, reminders, the widget, one Reading Identity insight, the opening of each Monthly Post-Mortem, Circle and Buddy Reads in full, and every privacy and safety feature.
Premium adds the full Reading Identity, Compare’s verdict and table, the complete Post-Mortem, five premium card families, and a vote on Shape Slowburn. See the pricing page for the reference prices.
How does the 14-day trial work?
The annual plan starts with fourteen days free. The store tells you the exact date and price before you confirm. If you cancel before the trial ends you are not charged. The trial is offered once per store account; if you have used one before, the store will not offer it again, and Slowburn shows the plan without it.
How do I restore a purchase?
Settings → Restore purchases, or the Restore link on the paywall. Slowburn asks the store for the subscriptions on your store account and turns Premium back on if one is active. Restore is always available, even when the store is unreachable it tells you nothing was changed and to try again.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are managed by the store, not by Slowburn. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Slowburn. On Android: Google Play → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Slowburn. Settings → Manage subscription in the app takes you to the right place.
Premium runs to the end of the period you paid for, then the app returns to Free. Nothing in your journal is removed.
How do I delete my account?
Slowburn has two different things you might mean, and two different buttons, on purpose.
Delete Circle (Settings → Circle) erases your circle from Slowburn’s servers: your handle, connections, everything you shared, your Buddy Reads and the sign-in account behind it. Your journal on the phone is untouched.
Erase everything on this phone (Settings → This phone) removes the journal from the phone and starts the app over. If you have a circle, delete it first, because this phone is the only thing that can.
The full detail is on the delete-account page.
What does Slowburn know about me?
Your shelf, ratings, spice, moods, tropes, notes, saved lines, progress, burns, stats and monthly dossiers stay on your phone. They are never uploaded. Only what you explicitly share with your circle leaves the phone, and it goes only to those people.
Anonymous usage counts and crash reports go to Google Firebase, tied to an app-install identifier and not to any account, and never carrying a book, a rating, a note or anything you or your circle wrote. The privacy policy has the whole list.
What is a circle, and who can see me?
A circle is people you invited one at a time with a link. There are no public profiles, no followers, no feed, no search for people. Someone is in your circle only if one of you sent the other an invitation and it was accepted. You can remove or block anyone, at once, and removal cuts both ways.
How do Buddy Reads work?
Invite one person in your circle to read a book with you. Each of you tracks your own position. Notes you leave are sealed at the page you left them and open for the other reader only when their own progress reaches that page. Either of you can leave a Buddy Read at any time.
How do I add the widget?
iPhone: press and hold the home screen, tap the plus, search for Slowburn, and choose the small or medium widget. Android: press and hold the home screen, choose Widgets, and find Slowburn.
The widget shows your current read, where you are in it, the line you saved and how it is burning. It updates when you log progress or a burn in the app. Tapping it opens that book.
How does reading progress work?
Open a book and tap Update progress. Books with a page count take a page number; books without one take a percent. Done on the keyboard saves. Marking a book Finished settles the position; DNF keeps it. Progress is local and private, and it is not a timer or a streak.
Why was I never asked about notifications?
Slowburn never asks at launch. It asks the first time a notification would obviously earn its place: when you start reading a book, invite someone, or start a Buddy Read. You can also switch any notification on from Settings → Notifications, which brings up the phone’s own permission prompt if it has never been shown.
How do I reach a person?
Email [email protected]. Slowburn is made by one person and that person reads support mail. Include your Support ID from Settings if the question is about Premium; it identifies your purchase without identifying you.
